ISLAMABAD, Dec 28 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved judgment on maintainability of the petition seeking court orders for halting Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) election.
The case was heard by Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Athar Minallah Monday.
The counsel for the petitioner told the court PBC polls are scheduled for December 31 and 75 members from provincial bar councils have to become members. I am too member of bar council. Previous term has not expired. Holding election on December 31 is breach of bar act while our term has not been completed; .
CJ IHC remarked filing such unnecessary cases in the court is violation of Bar Council Act. The court does not interfere in bar councils affairs this way. It would have been better had you placed the case before bar council. This court holds in esteem the higher values of lawyers profession.
The defence counsel told the court degrees of 15 candidates for PBC polls have been found fake. Still there are more fake degrees.
The court reserved the judgment after hearing the arguments of the petitioner.
