Senior Vice President of Awami National Party England, Adeel-ur- Rahman, strongly criticized the remarks of former cricketer Ijaz Ahmed’s and said it is targeting Pashtun players, calling them “biased, inappropriate, and deeply offensive.
“Ijaz Ahmed’s remarks are not only disrespectful to the Pashtun players but also perpetuate harmful stereotypes and contribute to a climate of prejudice and discrimination,” said Rahman while talking to the News.
He added that his comments are a blatant attack on the integrity and talent of Pashtun cricketers, who have consistently demonstrated their skill and dedication to the sport. Rahman emphasized that Ijaz Ahmed’s comments are unacceptable and demanded a public apology to the Pashtun nation.
He argued that they call upon Ijaz Ahmed to retract his offensive statements and issue a sincere apology to the Pashtun community for the hurt and anger his words have caused. Rahman further stressed the importance of promoting inclusivity and respect in sports.
“Cricket is a sport that unites people from all backgrounds, and it is crucial that we foster an environment where all players are treated with respect and dignity,” he added.
He added that they urge all stakeholders in the cricketing community to condemn Ijaz Ahmed’s remarks and work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable sporting landscape.”
He added that the Awami National Party England stands in solidarity with the Pashtun players and the entire Pashtun community and they will continue to advocate for the rights and dignity of all Pashtuns and fight against any form of discrimination or prejudice.
Rahman added that the Awami National Party England is a political organization dedicated to promoting the interests of the Pashtun community in the United Kingdom and advocating for peace and justice in Pakistan.
