Illegal opium crop disposes in Tirah Valley

Unlawful opium crop was destroyed in a joint operation carried out in various localities of Tirah Valley last day, police and administration officials said.
In a joint operation conducted by Frontier Corps, Tirah Militia, the district administration, and police in Tirah Valley disposed of illegal opium crops grown over hundreds of acres in various areas of the Valley.
Authorities described the operation as a major step toward eliminating narcotics and ensuring the rule of law in the region.
According to officials, the operation was carried out in the areas of Upper Bara, Tor Dara, Sandana, and Swakh Ghari, where search and clearance activities were launched, based on intelligence reports.
During the several-hour-long action, large-scale opium cultivation was completely destroyed, officials said.
The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner Tirah Mr.Anwar and accompanied by the Tehsildar Tirah, senior officials of Tirah Militia, local wing commander of Frontier Corps Lieutenant Colonel Waqas, Tirah Maidan police force, and police officer Iran Afridi.
Officials stated that the operation in the difficult mountainous territory was aimed at curbing the illegal cultivation, production, and smuggling of narcotics.
The administration reiterated that anti-drug operations would continue in the area to protect the younger generation from the harmful effects of drugs.
