IMF mission likely to meet SCBA in SC Building today

ISLAMABAD: Soon after top representative body of legal fraternity in the country Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) didn’t agree with International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to meet in a private hotel the mission likely to meet the Association in Supreme Court Building on Friday (today). Sources stated that the IMF mission had invited the SCBA officials to a private hotel for discussions. However, the SCBA President Mian Rauf Atta declined the invitation to meet at a private venue. Instead, he extended an invitation to the IMF mission to hold the meeting at the Supreme Court building. It is pertinent to mention that responding to criticism on IMF mission meeting with Chief Justice of Pakistan during National Assembly session Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif on Wednesday clarified that the meeting between the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the IMF team was held with the consent of both sides. Dispelling the impression that it was imposed, the Minister remarked that the IMF delegation met with the Chief Justice of Pakistan in order to judiciary’s support in maintaining financial discipline.
