Independence Day celebrates with zeal in Khyber

Like elsewhere in the country Independence Day was celebrated on Wednesday in all three tehsils of district Khyber with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor.
The Day was dawn with special prayers in the Morning Prayer for the solidarity and prosperity of the country.
The main function was organized in the police line, Shahkas, Jamurd where District Police Officer (DPO)Mazhar Iqbal was the chief guest on the occasion besides other police officials were among the participants.
The DPO hoisted the national flag and a smart contingent of police officers saluted to it.
In addition, a cake was cut to celebrate the 77th Independence Day of Pakistan.
Similarly in the presence of tribal elders, Assistant Commissioner, Landi Kotal Adnan Mumtaz hoisted the national flag inside the tehsil compound.
Like other patriotic citizens, prisoners in sub-jail, Landi Kotal also commemorate the I-Day celebration with zeal.
They decorated the cells with the national flag and presented dances on national songs played in the jail.
The I-Day was observed at Torkham border and the citizens took a rally that was attended by locals and administration officials.
The marchers were holding the national flag and chanted slogans like, “Long Live Pakistan”.
In the same way a simple but impressive gathering was initiated in Rescue 1122 headquarter, Jamrud on Wednesday.
The District Emergency Officer Engineer Shareq Riaz Khattek besides other subordinate officers hoisted the national flag and presented a salute to it.
He also planted a sibling in the lawn of the office to mark the Independence Day celebrations and offered prayers for the prosperity of the country.
I-Day observed in Bara where a moot was set up at Khyber Square that was attended by Assistant Commissioner, Bara Shahbuddin and police officials.
Meanwhile the tribesmen of Koki Khel in Jamrud initiated a protest sit-in at Bab-e-Khyber on 14 August against restricting the displaced people of Rajgal,Tirah Valley to go to their hometown.
