Inter-college for special children approved in Mardan

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the establishment of an inter-college for special children in Mardan district, a major step towards inclusive education in the region. According to an official handout, the Mardan Education Board officially registered the new college, marking a significant milestone. Deputy Director of the Special Education Complex, Aneeq Ahmed, expressed his gratitude, stating that the establishment of this college was a long-held dream. “The current PTI-led government has fulfilled this dream, winning the hearts of special children and their families by providing access to higher education at their doorstep,” he said. Aneeq Ahmed highlighted that 23 students from the institution passed their matriculation exams this year, including 17 boys and 6 girls, who previously had no options for further education within Mardan. Until now, the only available college for special children was in Peshawar, which posed a significant challenge for students from Mardan. The establishment of the new college is seen as a “revolutionary step” for the region. Aneeq Ahmed praised the efforts of Chief Minister’s advisor Mashal Yousafzai, whose contributions were instrumental in making this project a reality. He extended his thanks to Chief Minister KP Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur, Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Special Education Qasim Ali Shah, the Secretary of Social Welfare, and the officials of the Education Board for their support in this initiative. The college for special children was officially registered by the Mardan Education Board on Friday.
