The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly condemned what it described as meddlesome and deceptive remarks by United States officials regarding Iran’s internal developments, saying they reflect the continuation of Washington’s hostility toward the Iranian nation.
In an official statement issued on Friday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said the US positions are not motivated by concern for the Iranian people but are instead aligned with the long-standing policy of maximum pressure, threats, and interference in Iran’s domestic affairs. The statement accused Washington of seeking to incite violence, terrorism, unrest, and insecurity inside Iran.
The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed that, in line with the principles enshrined in Iran’s Constitution, the Islamic Republic recognizes peaceful protests and remains committed to addressing the legitimate demands of its people within the framework of the law. It emphasized that steps are being taken to reduce economic hardships, while stressing that a significant portion of Iran’s economic difficulties stems from what it termed an all-out economic and financial war imposed by the US through illegal and unjust sanctions.
According to the statement, US actions against Iran go beyond economic pressure and amount to a combination of psychological warfare, media campaigns aimed at spreading misinformation, threats of military intervention, and incitement to violence and terrorism. Iran said these actions are in clear violation of the UN Charter, peremptory norms of international law, and the fundamental principles of the international human rights system.
Recalling a long history of US hostility and interference, the Foreign Ministry cited the August 19, 1953 coup, US support for the Iraqi Ba’athist regime during the eight-year imposed war, alleged participation alongside the Zionist regime in what it called the criminal attack of June 2025, and the continued imposition of illegal sanctions. Iran urged the United Nations and other international bodies to uphold international law, particularly the principles of national sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of independent states.
The statement also called on the international community to pay serious attention to the illegal and inhumane nature of unilateral US sanctions, asserting that these measures directly target the human rights, livelihoods, and daily lives of ordinary Iranians and constitute what it described as a crime against humanity.
Concluding the statement, the Foreign Ministry said the Iranian nation will continue to confront foreign interference with vigilance, reliance on its Iranian-Islamic heritage, and strengthened national unity, and will not allow what it termed deceptive US policies to undermine Iran’s sovereignty, independence, and dignity.
