BEIRUT
Israel has targeted a major military base in the Syrian capital Damascus, the latest such bombing since the war in Gaza began on October 7. According to the Syrian media, Israeli planes have fired missiles from the Golan Heights in Damascus; Israel has targeted some places in the southern region from the Golan Heights.
Syrian media reported that Syrian Air Defense has foiled the attack of the Israeli planes and the Syrian Air Defense has shot down most of the missiles. According to Arab media, Syrian military sources told that our air defense forces responded to the missiles of the Israeli enemy and shot down most of them.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Israeli missiles targeted the area of Damascus’ international airport and also hit an air defense battalion base in the southern countryside of Sweida Governorate.
Observatory said that the Damascus airport area was hit, the airport was previously destroyed by Israeli bombing and it took 65 days to rehabilitate the runway, after which the airport was reopened after the first flight. The Israeli army did not immediately comment on the operation.
