PESHAWAR
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leadership on Monday raised concerns over the overall procedure of the census in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing a press conference here in Peshawar, the provincial ameer of JI Professor Muhammad Ibraheen rejected general election on the basis of ongoing census, adding that its party would oppose new delimitations of constituencies. He said that it was not correct not to count people living outside the home for more than six months.
There are certain flaws in the procedure devised by the incumbent government for conducting the headcount, he added and rejected delimitation of constituencies under digital census.
JI leader said that the law and order situation in KP was alarming and lawlessness has affected the Common people, adding that the operation would not bear any fruit.
Criticizing the Governor KP and cabinet members, Prof. Ibraheem said that they should work within the limits of the constitution.
Governor-KP should abstain himself from supporting a particular party, adding that after accepting the position, the governor should not support any particular party, he added.
“The caretaker provincial government has been found guilty of violating the constitution as it did not perform its duty to hold elections in stipulated time,” Muhammad Ibrahim said.
Ameer JI maintained that its party leadership was working to develop consensus among all political parties on election issues.
