Peshawar
The Pakistan Council of World Religions – Faith Friends (PCWR-FF), in collaboration with the Dioceses of Peshawar, successfully organized a Joint Celebration of Christmas at the Church of Pakistan in Peshawar. This historic gathering, moderated by Ms. Adeeba Adeel, brought together 110 participants, including Christians, Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs, as well as government stakeholders, to celebrate the joyous occasion.
The event began with prayers from diverse faith leaders: Rev. Joseph John, Mr. Muhammad Asghar, and Pandit Sham Lal. Chairman Qari Roohullah Madani delivered welcome remarks, highlighting the importance of mutual respect, acceptance, and religious tolerance for peaceful coexistence.
Bishop Humphery Sarfraz Peters, Vice Chairman of PCWR, shared the significance of Christmas and its symbols, such as the Christmas tree, gift-giving, and the legend of Santa Claus, emphasizing the message of love, peace, and joy. The celebration featured Christmas carols, Santa distributing chocolates, and the cutting of a traditional Christmas cake, followed by a dinner.
