Joint opposition to meet today to finalise stance over ToRs deadlock


ISLAMABAD : Opposition parties have summoned a meeting today (Wednesday) to finalise a decisive strategy regarding deadlock over Terms of References (ToRs) with the government on Panama leaks probe issue.
The joint opposition has decided to finalise its stance after deadlock over ToRs with the government committee could not be resolved.INP reported.
Members of the joint opposition will convene a meeting in office of Leader of the Opposition in Senate, Aitzaz Ahsan on Wednesday at 11:00am.
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq had summoned a session of the ToRs committee earlier but was postponed in light of Quetta blast that claimed over 70 lives.
Reportedly, there has been no contact between the opposition and the government over ToR deadlock ever since.
Representatives of Pakistan People’s Party besides Aitzaz Ahsan, Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam, Tehreek-e-Insaf, Jamaat-e-Islami and others will attend the meeting.
Head of Qaumi Watan Party Aftab Sherpao, Sheikh Rasheed, Senator Israrullah Zehri have also been invited to take part.
A ToRs committee was formed with six members from the government and six from the opposition to finalise a course for probe of Panama leaks against premier’s family.
The committee was formed on offer of the Prime Minister which was accepted by Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Khurshid Shah on behalf of the joint opposition.
Earlier this year, International Consortium of Investigative Journalists compiled a report on offshore companies across the globe and their owners which included around 140 world leaders among famous personalities.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’ s daughter and two sons were named in the list as owners of several offshore companies.
However, family of the premier denied wealth stashing and evading taxes using the companies.
