Islamabad High Court (IHC) has disposed of petition against provision of additional security to former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmad with directives.
The petition came up for hearing before single bench of IHC presided over by Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Athar Minallah Tuesday.
The petitioner Riaz Hanif Rahi appeared before the court.
The petitioner while making request to transfer the case to some other bench told the court a case like this against former CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry was heard by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani. It will be better this case be shifted to this bench too.
The court remarked you can not get forum of your sweet will. Which bench will hear it is mandate of the court not yours. You should give your arguments on merit.
The petitioner Hanif Rahi advocate told the court “ I have no other arguments. Please issue proper orders whatsoever.
The court disposed of the petition with directives after hearing the arguments.
The court said in its written order Jurist Foundation challenged the letter related to provision of security to former CJP after his retirement. The letter was written by registrar SC to interior secretary to provide security to CJP after his retirement. Neither the letter has been implemented nor any action has been taken on the latter. The rights of the petitioner or Pakistani citizens are not affected unless the competent authority takes any action. Assessing the security threats for any citizen falls under the special jurisdiction of executive authorities.
The court disposed of the petition with these orders.
