Balochistan Assembly member and former provincial minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran has claimed that he has once again received death threats from the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), saying the warnings would not deter him from continuing his political activities. Khetran said he had consistently criticized the activities of the banned outfit and repeatedly condemned the killing of Punjabi labourers and passengers in Balochistan. He said he had publicly challenged the group to confront him instead of targeting unarmed civilians and had received similar threats in the past.
According to Khetran, who is currently in Europe with his family on a private visit, a video was sent to his WhatsApp account allegedly showing BLA militants attacking Frontier Corps personnel in Balochistan. He said the video was accompanied by a written message warning him not to return to Pakistan or face fatal consequences.
Confirming the incident, Khetran said the threats would not intimidate him.
“I was not afraid of the BLA before, and I am not afraid now. My life and death are in the hands of Allah,” he said.
Reaffirming his support for Pakistan’s territorial integrity, Khetran said Balochistan was an integral part of Pakistan and would remain so.
He described attacks on passengers and labourers as cowardly acts, saying those responsible were targeting innocent civilians instead of confronting security forces directly. He added that sacrificing his life in defence of Pakistan and its people would be an honour.
Khetran said he would soon return to Pakistan and resume his political activities.
Commenting on the provincial government, he criticized the administration of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, alleging that it had failed to provide public relief or initiate major development projects. He argued that stronger development measures would have further reinforced the state’s narrative in the province.
