In a significant move following the success of the Sehat Card, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a province-wide life insurance scheme aimed at providing financial relief to citizens in times of crisis.
This was stated by the spokesperson of KP government Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif in a statement issued here on Wednesday.Mr Saif said the life insurance scheme, which will cost the provincial government Rs 4.5 billion annually, was designed to support families after the loss of a household head.
Under the scheme, if the head of a household passes away, immediate financial assistance will be provided to the family.
He furthered that families of deceased individuals under the age of 60 will receive Rs 1 million, while families of those above 60 years will be eligible for Rs 5 million in compensation.
“Often, when the breadwinner of a family dies, the survivors face severe financial hardships. This scheme aims to reduce that burden and help families navigate such difficult times,” Saif noted.
He added that the initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment to public welfare under the leadership of the Chief Minister of KP.
The scheme is expected to benefit millions across the province, offering critical financial protection to grieving families and marking another milestone in KP’s growing portfolio of social welfare programs.
