The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the wheat quota for 2026 and fixed the official price of a 20-kilogram flour bag, according to the provincial food department. Under the approved policy, flour mills across the province will receive 2,000 metric tonnes of wheat daily. The department has also notified district-wise daily wheat allocations to ensure a steady supply. Officials said government wheat will be supplied to flour mills at Rs11,200 per 100 kilograms. Following the release of wheat, the ex-mill price of a 20kg flour bag has been fixed at Rs2,500, while the retail price has been set at Rs2,520.
To ensure transparency in wheat distribution, the Food Department has introduced new conditions for flour mills. All operational mills have been directed to install CCTV cameras and maintain video recordings for at least 30 days.
According to the official notification, wheat will be distributed under the approved 2026 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Authorities have also warned that action will be taken if the moisture content of government-supplied flour exceeds 13.5 percent.
Peshawar has been allocated the highest daily wheat quota of 218 metric tonnes, followed by Mardan (125 metric tonnes), Swabi (87 metric tonnes), and Charsadda (84 metric tonnes).
Other allocations include Nowshera (80 metric tonnes), Lower Dir (76 metric tonnes), Swat (74 metric tonnes), and Bajaur and Upper Chitral (59 metric tonnes each) per day.
Officials said the district-wise wheat quota has been determined according to population, while the supply of wheat to flour mills will be ensured in phases.
