KP education dept launches campaign to enroll 2.6m children

The elementary and secondary education department on Tuesday announced a new enrollment campaign across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a handout said.
According to the statement the education department has decided to enroll 2.6 million children in schools under the campaign.
The decision was taken in a special meeting chaired by provincial minister for elementary and secondary education Arshad Ayub Khan.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Khalid, Special Secretary Masood Ahmed, Managing Director of the Elementary and Secondary Education Foundation Qaiser Alam, Chief Planning Officer Zainullah, Director Elementary and Secondary Education Numanah Sardar, while District Education Officers from across the province participated online.
The Provincial Minister for Education said that the Green Enrollment Campaign 2026 is being launched to equip the province’s children with education and to promote forestry, and that concerned officers should utilize all their energies to ensure the success of this campaign.
He urged all stakeholders of the Green Enrollment Campaign 2026 to run the newly launched enrollment drive in an organized manner and successfully achieve the set targets, while strictly implementing all government-issued directives. He emphasized placing special focus on girls’ education and ensuring maximum enrollment of female students.
He stated that providing education to the children of the province is the top priority of the department, therefore the Directorate and all District Education Officers should make the campaign successful through media, social media, madrasas, and the holding of open courts (khuli kacheris).
The Provincial Minister also directed that cooperation be sought from local Members of the Provincial Assembly to ensure the success of the new enrollment campaign. He said that special age relaxation would be given to children under the new enrollment drive, and that the digitized data of enrolled students would be collected.
On this occasion, the new enrollment drive for 2026 was formally named the Green Enrollment Campaign, under which tree plantation will also be carried out across the province alongside the enrollment drive to promote forestry.
Various opinions and suggestions were also presented during the meeting to ensure the success of the enrollment campaign.
The Provincial Minister further stated that the Private Schools Regulatory Authority should further simplify the registration procedure for private schools and provide maximum facilities to these institutions. He added that the current government will prepare a five-year plan for future enrollment campaigns.
