Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority seized 350 kilograms of China salt during the raids in Abbottabad city, said a handout issued here on Wednesday.
It said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority in an operation in Abbottabad seized more than 350 kg of banned china salt from a warehouse located at the old vegetable market.
The authority also imposed heavy fines over the owner. The operation was carried out on the instructions of Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan, during which the warehouse was sealed when banned China salt was recovered. According to the Food Safety Authority, operations against the adulteration mafia continued in other parts of the province besides Abbottabad.
The Food Safety Authority inspected various flour mills in Charsadda district. While various flour mills were checked through modern mobile labs, two flour mills were fined heavily for poor hygiene and high moisture content in the flour.
During the operation in Saleem Market area of Upper Dir, when a prohibited thief was found from a shop, the seizure was sealed and a fine was also imposed.
During the operation in Mansehra city and its environs, food shops, hotels and restaurants were inspected.
Meanwhile, one shop was sealed for prohibited food items and poor hygiene, while several others were issued notices for improvement, and food safety authority SOPs were directed to ensure implementation.
The spokesperson of the authority said that crackdowns against the adulteration mafia have been intensified across the province during Ramadan. Strict action will be taken against those who harm public health through substandard food.
