An interesting dispute has arisen between the provincial government and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) over the transfer orders of Syed Farooq Jameel, special secretary health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Syed Farooq Jameel, a grade 20 officer of the Inland Revenue service, was posted as special secretary health KP; however, a day earlier the FBR issued orders of his transfers and posted him as commissioner regional tax officer at Faisalabad.
On February 9, the FBR issued a notification regarding his appointment as regional tax officer at Faisalabad. He has been directed to assume the charge of his new office with immediate effect.
However, the KP government did not show any interest in the move as it does not want Mr Farooq Jameel to re-join his parent department and relieve service from KP as a special secretary health.
On January 26, 2022, the FBR issued a notification entitled, repatriation from deputation, stating that after completing five years on deputation, Special Secretary of Health Department Farooq Jamil was repatriated to his parent department.
The FBR has also issued a second notification on February 9 posted him as Commissioner in RTO Faisalabad.
It may be worth mentioning here that Syed Jamil Farooqu had fulfilled a number of important responsibilities in the previous PTI government and also served as additional secretary health, acting health secretary and special secretary health in the present government.
However, some senior officials of the health department believed that the provincial government required the services of Syed Farooq Jameel as special secretary health in order to implement health sector reforms in letter and spirit.
Despite several attempts, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Minister for Health and Special Secretary Health Syed Farooq Jameel were not approached for comments over the issue.
