PESHAWAR
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government Saturday banned illegal and unregistered organizations from collecting skins on Eid al-Adha.
The provincial government has directed the deputy commissioners of all districts to allow registered and charitable organizations to collect sacrificial skins. The Home Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a letter to all Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of districts. Steps are necessary to prevent financial support of terrorism, money laundering, etc, the letter says.
In the rules of the committee established by the federal government to prevent the financial support of terrorists, it is to stop the collection of charity and donations by illegal NGOs. Welfare organizations in Pakistan play an important role in providing essential social services and relief from natural disasters through charitable funds, however, under the Charities Act 2019, the Deputy and Assistant Commissioners have been empowered to register and approve the receipt of charitable funds.
Sacrificial skins should not be collected by any banned organizations and persons nominated for ban, the letter said.
