PESHAWAR: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to launch a large-scale crackdown against unregistered printing presses and those involved in publishing hate material. A comprehensive plan has been formulated to take strict action against such elements. In the first phase, all unregistered printing presses across the province will be warned through an extensive awareness campaign to register themselves with the Information Department without delay. After the deadline, legal action will be taken under relevant laws against those who fail to comply.
In the second phase, special inspection teams will visit various cities to ensure the registration of unregistered printing presses and the renewal of licenses for those already registered.
Simultaneously, authorities are closely monitoring printing presses suspected of publishing content that may incite sectarianism or promote hatred on linguistic, regional, religious, or communal grounds.
Chairing a high-level meeting, Secretary Information and Public Relations, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Khalid, directed that registration and renewal of all printing presses must be ensured without exception.
He further stated that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in printing or distributing hate material or content that fuels sectarianism or discrimination on any basis.
