PESHAWAR: lawmaker Sajjadullah submitted a calling attention notice to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday, highlighting the plight of 657 employees serving under ongoing provincial projects from 2021 to November 30, 2025. The notice said these employees, who risked their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, were promised an extension in tenure, job continuity, and a suitable service structure by the previous government, a promise that remains unfulfilled. Sajjadullah pointed out that although 1,250 new posts were created within the health department, the implementation of these posts has been delayed, preventing these employees from receiving an extension or permanent status. Lawmaker maintained that this situation created by the provincial government has led to significant anxiety among the affected staff members. The MPA called on the provincial government to fulfill its promise by granting permanent status and contract extensions to the 657 employees working under the Gavi Project, acknowledging their dedication and service during the pandemic.
