KP govt vows to resolve issues of University of Buner on priority

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Syed Fakhar Jehan and Minister for Higher Education and Local Government Mina Khan Afridi on Thursday jointly chaired a meeting on the affairs and development of the University of Buner.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Higher Education Department Dr Muhammad Israel Khan, the vice chancellor, university administrative officials and senior officers of the Higher Education Department, a handout said.
The participants reviewed in detail the academic and developmental challenges being faced by the university and discussed various proposals and practical measures to ensure sustainable solutions to the issues.
On the occasion, Ms Afridi directed the concerned authorities to resolve the university’s problems on a priority basis.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr Fakhar Jehan said the provincial government was taking serious steps to provide quality and modern educational facilities to the people of Buner, particularly the youth.
He said all available resources would be utilized to transform the University of Buner into a quality educational and research institution capable of meeting regional academic needs.
He added that the government aimed to ensure access to higher education and research opportunities within the district itself.
Referring to the broader policy direction, he said that “quality education for all” was the vision of Imran Khan, adding that the provincial government was working under the leadership of the Chief Minister to implement reforms and development initiatives in the education sector.
