We believed justice, equality and coexistence were essential for lasting peace in South Asia: Minority community

The All Balmik Hindu Community Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday expressed solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and called for a peaceful, dialogue-based resolution of the longstanding dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The community observed Kashmir Solidarity Day with prayers and a meeting at its provincial secretariat, attended by community elders, sarpanchs, youth representatives, women leaders, religious scholars and social workers from across the province.
According to a resolution adopted on the occasion, participants expressed solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and voiced concern over the hardships faced by civilians, particularly women and children.
The resolution urged all stakeholders to pursue a peaceful and just settlement of the Kashmir issue through dialogue. It also called on the Government of Pakistan, United Nations human rights bodies, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the international community to work for the protection of human rights, freedom of expression and access to basic services for the people of Kashmir.
The participants said that, as a minority community, they believed justice, equality and coexistence were essential for lasting peace in South Asia.
Addressing the gathering, provincial president of the community Haroon Sarab Diyal said the Balmik Hindu Community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stood in solidarity with the people of Kashmir and prayed for peace, justice and dignity for Kashmiris.
He said Pakistan’s strength lay in raising its voice for oppressed communities and stressed that justice and compassion should guide efforts for regional peace.
The event concluded with special prayers for peace in Kashmir, Pakistan and the wider region, while participants also observed a one-minute silence in remembrance of those who had lost their lives.
The community reaffirmed its commitment to interfaith harmony, constitutional values and the protection of vulnerable communities.
