PESHAWAR: The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) on Monday provided the most entertaining opportunity for the public, especially youth, to experience the first-ever paragliding activity of the province at Misri Banda area of Akora Khattak town in Nowshera district of the province.
For the first time in history, the most popular adventurous activity ‘paragliding’ was arranged for the general public at the provincial level in which about 20 paragliders, including both male and female participated.
“Well-experienced, full-time and professional flight instructors gave the participants a ground paragliding training session at Hayatabad Sports Complex Peshawar a day before the event,” said a communiqué. The second day built on the skills of first, allowing ample time for the two solo flights at Misri Banda.
Talking to the media, Secretary Tourism Muhammad Tariq said the TCKP always encouraged engaging the youth in different recreational activities. He said the aim was to provide the best opportunities for public to progress in adventurous activities as quickly as possible in a relaxed and friendly environment where safety is paramount.
The secretary said the TCKP would offer instructional and introductory paragliding flights to anyone who would like to experience paragliding. The organisers said the TCKP had provided the best environment and facilities which would enable you to learn the flying techniques in short. A woman paraglider also took part in the activity.
Tourism Corporation has announced four more paragliding events for the public to experience, scheduled as 19 – 20 Nov, 3 – 4 Dec, 16 – 17 Dec, 30 – 31 December 2016. As per the plan, the two best paragliders in the first four activities will be nominated for the final paragliding activity and will be awarded with souvenirs and certificates.
The registration fee for the activity is 3000/- per participants. Besides paragliding facility, the participants are also facilitated in transportation, food, first aid kit and other facilities during the event.
