KP Minister announces plans for direct connectivity of Abbottabad city with a Hazara Motorway

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation, Communications and Works, Ahmad Jan, and Provincial Minister for Rural Development and Local Government, Ameer Nadeem Durrani, have announced plans for direct connectivity of Abbottabad city with a Hazara Motorway.
They propose initiating immediate work at Sherwan Interchange to link Abbottabad through a tunnel, facilitating interchanges for the center of city and improving traffic flow in and around Abbottabad.

The provincial government has requested federal government support for expanding Sherwan Interchange and constructing an interchange via a tunnel for Abbottabad. This initiative aims to connect various areas, including Abbottabad city, Manshera, Nathiagali Murri, and others areas, minimizing traffic congestion within the city.

During a meeting at the Commissioner House in Abbottabad, officials from NHA, C&W, WSSA, Sui Gas, Health, and Forest departments discussed these plans. The focus is on immediate actions, such as starting work on Abbottabad BRT project, cleaning up rainwater drains, and addressing road issues near Hazara Motorway’s conclusion at Peshawar Mor. The officials emphasized the need for timely completion of infrastructure projects, addressing issues left by previous contractors, and conducting inquiries into incomplete work.

Moreover, a comprehensive plan for the redesigning and cleaning of all drains in Abbottabad was discussed, with an urgent emphasis on immediate cleaning of all drains in the short term. The officials directed the concerned authorities to collaborate with TMAs for measuring all drains and to ensure prompt action for their redesign. The provincial ministers instructed the relevant authorities to write to the Public Service Commission regarding vacant positions in DHQ hospitals, especially in the evening and night shifts, and to seek NOC from the Election Commission for addressing staff shortages in the hospitals.

The meeting concluded with directives to promptly address issues related to Abbottabad Teaching Hospital, Dodhial Mental and General Hospital, Boghar Mang BHU, and Kot. Najibullah BHU. Additionally, instructions were also given to Chief Conservator Forest and SE C&W to start immediate work on the construction of a shortcut road from Saran Valley to Kaghan Valley, focusing on resolving land acquisition and other related issues. Lastly, it was decided to expedite the survey, land acquisition, and instructed forest department to issue NOC for road within two months.
