Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed on Saturday laid the foundation stone for new constabulary barracks at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines in Peshawar, aimed at providing better residential facilities to police personnel.
The IGP visited the police lines, where Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed received him. During the visit, Mr Hameed formally inaugurated the construction of the barracks, which are intended to improve the living conditions and welfare of police personnel.
The CCPO briefed the IGP on the design and capacity of the proposed barracks, their objectives, residential facilities, administrative arrangements and other related measures.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hameed said police personnel were a valuable asset of the department and their welfare, better housing and provision of basic facilities remained among the top priorities of the police force.
He said provision of decent and improved residential facilities would not only enhance the quality of life of police personnel but also have a positive impact on their morale and performance.
The IGP said a satisfied, confident and motivated police force was better equipped to provide effective, timely and quality services to the public. He added that all necessary measures were being taken to ensure the welfare and wellbeing of police personnel.
