Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan has strongly criticized Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for her recent remarks about the KP government, calling them “unfortunate and inappropriate” on the day of the suicide attack at the Peshawar Federal Constabulary (FC) Headquarters.
In a statement, the CM aide on information said that at a time of tragedy, unity and sympathy should have been shown instead of political criticism.
Shafi Jan said the suicide attack at a highly sensitive location resulted in the martyrdom and injuries of FC personnel.
KP Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi immediately suspended all official engagements, visited the injured in the hospital, and attended the funeral prayers of the martyrs.
In contrast, he noted, the Punjab Chief Minister opted for political criticism instead of expressing solidarity with the people of KP.
He stated that Maryam Nawaz’s politics “begins with blame and ends in hatred,” adding that the KP government was on the frontline in the fight against terrorism and is fulfilling its responsibilities with full commitment.
Shafi Jan also expressed disappointment over the federal government’s attitude, stating that the NFC Award, Net Hydel Profit, and other provincial dues have not yet been released, which is severely affecting the province’s administrative and development affairs.
He claimed that the mandate of the people of KP is being targeted under a deliberate strategy.
Highlighting peace initiatives, he said the KP government launched the Peace Jirga to promote unity and political consensus, which received support from all parties.
“PTI believes in the Constitution and rule of law and will continue its struggle for public rights,” he added.
He reaffirmed that under the vision of Chairman Imran Khan and the leadership of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohaib Afridi, the KP government will continue its political and public efforts with full determination.
