KP U21 Inter-District Games ends with sweet memories, Peshawar win overall trophy


Peshawar District clinched the overall trophy of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U21 Inter-District Games, which concluded here at Peshawar Sports Complex on Friday with hands full of joys and memories.
Provincial Minister for Higher Education Kamran Khan Bangash was the chief guest at the colourful prize distribution ceremony attended by more than 5000 male players’ part of the Games in 10 different disciplines.
The Games ended in a grand ceremony with all its rhetoric and all the participating players in a great mood of jubilations, dancing on the prominent numbers of two famous singers – Karan Khan and Sajjad Khan, followed by a grand eye-catching firework display.
Kamran Khan Bangash was accompanied by Additional Secretary Sports Tashfeen Haider, DG Sports Asfandyar Khan Khattak, Director Sports of Merged Area Pir Abdul Shah, Director Youth KP Saleem Jan Marwat, Director Operation Syed Saqlain Shah, Director Development Saleem Raza.
Besides them, officials, players and a large number of enthusiastic spectators were also present and enjoyed the grand prize distribution ceremony. Soon after the prize distribution ceremony, the players from all 35 districts happily left for their respective districts and homes with gold medal, silver medals, bronze medals, cash prizes and a very important monthly sports scholarship of Rs. 10,000 for gold medal winner, Rs. 8000 for silver medalists and Rs. 5000 for the bronze medalists.
We will further enhance the prestige of the nation and raise the green flag to the heights of fame, the players cemented their pledges while leaving for their respective areas. “The players of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa once again turned to the playing field which is the result of good sports policy of the present govt,” Kamran Khan Bangash said in his brief chat.
While appreciating the Directorate General Sports for holding the Games, Kamran Bangash said: “If this trend continues then in the near future the players of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will rule the world.”
In these games, Peshawar got first position in karate, wrestling, weightlifting, basketball, gymnastics and wushu and second place in table tennis, judo while Khyber District came second by winning first place in Judo, second place in Wushu and Karate. Swat players also gave a stunning performance by upsetting Peshawar in the Table Tennis event. More than 5000 players and officials participated in 10 different games which lasted for five days.
