A memorandum of undestanding (MOU) was signed between Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development & Management Company (KPEZDMC), Hattar Industrialists Association (HIA) and COMSATS University Islamabad Abbottabad Campus. The MOU signing officials were CEO KPEZDMC Mr. Javed Khattak, Chairman HIA Mr. Muhammad Atta ur Rehman and Director COMSATS Abbottabad Campus Prof. Dr. Maroof Shah.
The Parties recognize the importance of collaboration to serve the needs of society through proper design, construction, and management of the waste facilities. Consequently, the Parties are hereby establishing a working relationship and undertaking certain commitments & operations related to the environmental issues.
The main tasks include the capacity building on solid waste disposal – management and recycling, contaminated water – wastewater and its treatment, water reusability in the marble industry (reuse of effluents from marble industry), treatment issues of solid & liquid wastes in dispersed industrial zones, design of sewerage system and treatment capacity in new economic zones. Representatives of the Parties will jointly search and select suitable land for the purpose of initial public dumping in Hattar Economic Zone, Haripur.
Hattar Economic Zone (HEZ) has been developed in 6 phases. The 1443 Acres Economic Zone is one of the major manufacturing hubs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province with more than 400 manufacturing units operating in it. It is in close proximity to Islamabad and Punjab.
HEZ is located in District Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. HEZ enjoys considerable accessibility since, Ghazi E.Z., Hattar SEZ and Small Industrial Estate under the Small Industrial Development Board are all located in the same district as Hattar Economic Zone.
