The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) has been selected for the ASOCIO Government Award 2026 for its performance in digital innovation and e-governance, said an official statement.
The povincial minister for information Shafie Jan said the nomination by the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) was an acknowledgment of KP’s efforts to digitise public services and improve citizen access to technology.
“This international recognition is a matter of pride for the province. It is clear proof of the success of the KP government’s digital policy and effective use of technology in service delivery,” he said in a statement issued on Saturday.
The ASOCIO federation includes 24 member economies such as Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, Thailand and New Zealand. The award will be presented during the ASOCIO Summit from Oct 5-7, 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Jan said Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was pursuing the “Digital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” agenda in line with the vision of PTI founder Imran Khan, with a focus on making governance simpler, faster and more transparent.
“Making KP a hub of modern technology is among the top priorities of the provincial government. Through digital governance we are working to make public service delivery more efficient and accountable,” he said.
The minister added that the government would continue digital reforms to strengthen KP’s profile in global digital development.
It is important to note that the KPITB has earlier received several national and international recognitions, including the P@SHA ICT Award, WSIS Prize.
