Kurram: 48 shops restored in Bagan Phase II to revive local economy

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has in the Kurram district has completed the second phase of a market rehabilitation project, restoring 48 shops in Bagan and enabling affected traders to resume business.
The formal inaugural ceremony held at Government High School Bagan, was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Kurram Ashfaq Khan as chief guest, alongside security and civil officials including Colonel Moazzam of 9-Div, Commanding Officer 136 Wing Lt. Col. Alamgir, District Police Officer Malik Habib Khan and Assistant Commissioner Lower Kurram Asmatullah, as well as local tribal elders.
The initiative aims to support the traders impacted by recent unrest and to stimulate economic activity in the area. Keys to the rebuilt shops were handed over to owners during the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Khan said the rehabilitation would not only provide relief to local business community but also help generate employment opportunities. He praised the role of community elders in maintaining peace and acknowledged the efforts of the security forces. He added that development work in Bagan would continue, with Phase III and Phase IV of the project expected to begin soon to further improve facilities for residents.
Bagan market had sustained damage during recent tensions in Kurram district and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is undertaking phased reconstruction in line with its commitments.
