Landikotal police foil drug smuggling attempt

Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a drug piddler and recovered 1500 grams of heroin at Charwazgay police checkpost, officials said. Sub-Inspector Hajat Khan, who led the team, told this scribe that acting on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Khyber, Rai Mazhar Iqbal, a district-wide anti-narcotics campaign was underway with notable success.
He said police foiled a major drug smuggling attempt and recovered a significant quantity of heroin. Hajat Khan saod they conducted a special checking operation at Charwazgay checkpoint during and a suspect attempting to smuggle heroin on foot was intercepted. The accused, identified as Tahir, son of Shakir Khan, a resident of Zakhakhel, was apprehended with 1,500 grams of heroin in his possession.
The suspect was taken into custody and shifted to the local lock-up. A case has been registered against him and further investigation underway. DPO Rai Mazhar Iqbal appreciated the efforts of the police team, stating that the campaign against drug traffickers would be continued with full force.
He affirmed that strict action would be taken against individuals involved in the drug trade to ensure a drug-free society.
