Lawmakers, officials rush to affected areas as emergency relief and rehabilitation drive launched

In the aftermath of devastating cloudburst and heavy rains in the tribal district of Orakzai, lawmakers and senior officials on Friday conducted an emergency visit to the worst-hit areas, as authorities accelerated relief and rehabilitation efforts under the provincial government directives.
Member National Assembly Yousaf Khan and Chairman DDAC/MPA Aurangzeb Khan visited the Central Tehsil’s Mishti Mela and Hassan Zai Dara along with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Yasir Salman, the Assistant Commissioner of Lower Orakzai and other officials to assess the scale of destruction.
Officials reviewed early reports of damage to houses, shops, agricultural land and water supply systems caused by flash floods and strong water torrents.
A jirga was also held with the local elders, where residents briefed authorities on their losses and urgent needs.
The officials were directed to intensify immediate relief measures and full support for recovery efforts.
During the visit, the delegation reviewed ongoing rescue and relief operations and directed the concerned departments to ensure timely, coordinated and effective response for the restoration of essential services.
Lawmakers and administration officials emphasized transparency, discipline and efficient governance in relief activities, announcing continuous monitoring of rehabilitation work.
Authorities also appreciated the performance of frontline workers engaged in relief operations and directed further improvement in service delivery standards.
According to the district administration, a coordinated strategy is underway for infrastructure repair and restoration of basic facilities to minimize the sufferings of affected families at the earliest.
