Leaving Afghanistan alone today is not in the interest of any one: FM

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said Pakistan efforts are bearing fruits and international community has started paying attention to Afghanistan and the world today thinks leaving Afghanistan alone today is not in the interest of any one.
He said this while presiding over a meeting of former foreign secretaries, ambassadors and government spokespersons here Thursday.

He went on to say collective voice of Muslim Ummah, OIC can prove to be an effective platform to cope with Afghanistan’s situation.
He held the OIC moot is aimed at drawing world’s attention towards the need to extend assistance to the Afghan people faced with dire humanitarian situation.
He underlined the world now understands that abandoning Afghanistan is not in anybody’s interest. He said the world appears willing to extend assistance to Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds.
Shah Mahmood remarked we have also invited Afghans to the meeting so that they could also present their point of view.

During my visit to Afghanistan on October 21 I made it clear upon Afghan interim leadership that world has attached some expectations with you, therefore, they will have to provide some space to it.

We made it clear that we will have to move forward to help Afghanistan, he held. Afghanistan is heading towards economic collapse. The economic restrictions are not proving helpful in improving situation, he underscored.
