LHC seeks detailed report on not plying govt buses on routes

Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought detailed report from the secretary transport in a petition filed against not plying government buses on routes.
Petition filed by a private transport company against not plying government buses on routes and not allowing private transporters to run buses came up for hearing before single bench of LHC led by Justice Shujat Ali Khan Tuesday.
Secretary transport Ahmad Javed Qazi and CEO of Punjab mass transit company appeared in the court in person.
The petitioner said entry of private buses has been stopped on different routes in Lahore since 2019. Government transport is not running on these routes since 2019.
Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) is authorized to make routes in the city but it is not authorized to make routes from one city to other city.
The petitioner requested that if government buses have not to be run on concerned routes then private company be allowed to start its service.
Justice Shujat Ali Khan inquired tell us on how many routes buses are running and on how many routes they are not running. Why the private transporters are not being allowed to run buses in the city.
The court ordered five years audit report of Lahore Transport company be presented. The court be informed the details with reference to private buses.
The court sought detailed report on June 25 on not running government transport in different routes in Lahore and not allowing private transporters to run vehicles.
