LHC stays election of PCB chairman

Lahore High Court (LHC) has stayed the election of chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The court while issuing notice to federal government, PCB Election commissioner and other respondents has sought reply from them.

The case came up for hearing before single bench of LHC led by Justice Anwar Hussain Tuesday.

Nida Kafeel, counsel for the petitioner Malik Zulfiqar took the plea PCB election commissioner constituted new Board of Governors (BOG) by removing board of governors from their positions.

The petitioner requested the court to declare the constitution of new BOG on its own unconstitutional. Order be issued for stopping PCB elections till the decision of the court.

After hearing the arguments LHC stayed holding of chairman PCB election.

It is pertinent to mention here the election of PCB chairman was postponed two days before on the order of Balochistan High Court (BHC).

PCB had also postponed its meeting to be held on Tuesday in Lahore in connection with election of new chairman.
