Two police check posts in Upper Dir district came under attack by militants, following which local residents also took up arms and moved to defensive positions to support the police. Following reports of attacks on the two check posts, residents of Nahagdar, Larjam and Ashiri Dara came out to assist security personnel and said they were ready to cooperate with police in protecting peace in the region.
Local residents said they would not allow anyone to disturb the peace of their area and were prepared to join police personnel at defensive positions and play their role in maintaining security.
According to reports on Thursday, militants opened fire on the vehicle of Upper Dir District Police Officer (DPO) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) district president Nisar Wardag, however luckily both remained safe in the incident.
