Major reshuffle in KP bureaucracy ahead of by-elections

Peshawar, Malakand, Bannu, Malakand, Hazara divisions get new commissioners

Weeks before the upcoming by-elections on the National Assembly seats in March, the caretaker Khyber government on Thursday announced major bureaucratic changes, mostly Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Special Secretaries of the various government departments were either changed or directed to report to the Establishment Department.
Riaz Khan Mahsud, a Grade 20 officer, has been directed to report to the Establishment Department. In his place, Muhammad Zubair, also a Grade 20 officer of the PAS group, has been appointed as the new Commissioner Peshawar division.
Syed Abdul Jabbar Shah, Commissioner Mardan Division, was directed to report to the KP Establishment Department. Secretary Relief, Rehabilitation & Settlement Department, Yousif Rahim will replace him as Commissioner Mardan division.
According to a notification issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Establishment Department, Amer Sultan Tareen, Secretary Industries Department, has been made Commissioner Hazara Division, while in predecessor Mr Shaukat Ali Yousifzai posted as Commissioner Kohat Division.
The government directed Commissioner Kohat division Mahmood Aslam to report to the Establishment Department with immediate effect.
Commissioner Malakand Division, Saqib Raza Aslam, has also been asked to report to the Establishment Department while Secretary Health Department, Mr Shahidullah, a PMS BS-20 Grade officer, has been transferred and appointed as Commissioner Malakand Division, said the notification.
Aamir Afaq, the current Commissioner DI KHAN Division was transferred and posted as Special Secretary, Home & Tribal Affairs while his predecessor Pervaiz take over as Commissioner Bannu Division while Nisar Ahmad, a PAS BS-19 Officer, Secretary, Energy & Power Department occupied the post of Commissioner DI Khan Division.
The present Commissioner Bannu Division, Mattiullah Khan, a PMS BS-20 Grade officer, has been directed to report to the Establishment Department with immediate effect, said the notification.
The newly installed caretaker KP government got Khalid Iqbal, Director General (DG) Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) in Planning and Development (P&D), transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abbottabad.
Mr Khalid Iqbal’s predecessor Tariq Saleem has been posted as Additional Secretary Administration Department.
DC Tribal District Bajaur, DC Battagram, DC Dir Upper, DC Abbottabad, DC Hangu, DC Kohistan, DC Nowshera, DC Swat, DC Chitral, DC Buner, DC Dir Lower, DC Orakzai, DC Lakki Marwat, DC Khyber, DC Swabi, DC Charsadda, DC Kurram, DC Kohat, DC Malakand, DC Mohmand, DC Shangla, and DC Torghar have been transferred with immediate effect.
Similarly, DC Peshawar has been transferred and posted as Additional Secretary Local Government and Rural Development while his predecessor, Mr Abdul Nasir Khan was given the charge of DC Khyber.
Mr Tashfeen Haider, Special Secretary Energy & Power Department was transferred and posted as DC Bunnu.
Irfanullah Khan, Special Secretary LG & RD was transferred and posted as DC Swat. Syed Saif-ul-Islam Shah, Director Social Welfare (Merged Areas) was transferred and made DC Kurram.
Zia-ur-Rehman, Deputy Secretary Finance Department, was transferred and posted as DC Torghar, while DC Torghar, Anwar Zeb got the post of Deputy Secretary Finance.
Additional Secretary Finance, Additional Secretary P&D, Additional Secretary Energy Power, Deputy Secretary Home, and Deputy Finance were reshuffled under the new transfer orders by the provincial government.
