PESHAWAR
In a sorrowful incident, occurred in Sabirabad Ghandi Mir Khan Khel area of Karak, a man allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on his own family members following a domestic dispute, killing seven people, including women and young children.
According to police on Monday, those killed in the shooting include the accused’s wife, daughter, sister, two brothers and their wives.
Upon receiving information, local residents, a heavy police contingent and rescue teams reached the scene and shifted all the bodies to the District Headquarters Hospital Karak for post-mortem examination.
Rescue 1122 reported that the deceased include two children and two women among the seven victims. The victims were identified as 50-year-old Zafarullah, 48-year-old Khurshid, two women aged 40 and 30, a 6-year-old girl and a 3-month-old infant.
Police stated that the accused, identified as Farooq alias Farooqay, opened fire on his family due to domestic discord and also fired at the police during the operation.
District Police Officer (DPO) Karak Saud Khan confirmed that the accused has been arrested and further investigation into the incident is underway.
