Tribal leader and youth representative Malik Waliullah Khan has expressed strong condemnation, stating that Mari Petroleum Company has given nothing but deception and false promises to the people of North Waziristan, particularly committing grave injustice against the residents of Toori Mirali.
He said that the company distributes a few ration bags to create the impression that the people’s problems have been resolved, while the ground reality is that rations neither improve the education system, provide healthcare facilities, nor repair dilapidated roads. Our educational institutions resemble ruins, healthcare centers are deserted, and roads have turned into pits and heaps of dirt.
Malik Waliullah Khan further stated that exploiting local resources while depriving the people of their basic rights is the worst form of oppression. Neither are local youth being provided employment opportunities, nor have land compensations been paid. The people are merely being placated with false claims and empty assurances.
He warned that if the legitimate rights of the people are not immediately restored and projects for education, healthcare, and road infrastructure are not initiated, the residents of Toori Mirali and Waziristan will not remain silent. Instead, they will launch a peaceful but vigorous protest movement.
