Provincial Election Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saeed Gul in his message on the occasion of National Voters Day said that National Voters Day is celebrated on December 7 every year to mark the first parliamentary elections in the country on December 7, 1970, with the aim of highlighting the importance of voting among the public and encouraging every citizen to exercise their right to vote and become a part of the national electoral process.
He said that the Election Commission is conducting an awareness campaign to bring different sections of the society, including the youth, into the mainstream, under which voter awareness activities are regularly organized in various educational institutions and awareness is given about vote registration and use of votes so that the turnout in elections increases significantly.
Mr Saeed Gul said that efforts are being made by the Election Commission with the cooperation of partner organizations and NADRA to reduce the gender gap in male and female votes, in which practical steps are being taken to ensure the issuance of National Identity Cards to women on priority basis and registration of their votes.
Mr Saeed Gul appealed to the people of KP to check their voting details by sending an SMS to 8300 and if any corrections are required, contact the office of the concerned District Election Commissioner to get their voting details corrected so that they do not face any difficulty in exercising their right to vote in national and local government elections.
