The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched a probe into alleged corruption in the sports fund allocated to village councils in the merged districts.
Provincial Minister for Local Government, Elections, and Rural Development, Meena Khan Afridi, has ordered a thorough audit of the funds, citing complaints of irregularities in the utilization of Rs500,000 allocated to each village council for sports activities.
In a statement, Afridi emphasized that corruption in sports funds would not be tolerated and directed the formation of an inquiry committee comprising deputy directors from the Local Government Directorate to investigate the matter.
The committee has been tasked with submitting its report within seven days, and the findings will be used to take action against those involved in the alleged corruption.
Afridi reiterated that the government is committed to ensuring transparency in the utilization of public funds and promoting sports activities in the province.
