PESHAWAR
Commissioner Malakand Division, Shahidullah Khan on Tuesday chaired a meeting to discuss measures to control floods including se-silting of River Swat.
The meeting among others was attended by Executive Engineer Irrigation, Deputy Director Local Government, Assistant Director Mineral Department, Regional Municipal Officer and concerned officials.
Assistant Director briefed the meeting about legal aspects of de-silting and informed that de-silting would start after completing legal formalities.
Participants also suggested starting de-silting from mainstream of the river to minimize chances of floods in future.
Addressing the meeting, commissioner stressed to devise a result oriented strategy relating to flood prevention directing division of riverbed into separate blocs aiming work efficiency.
He also directed authorities to make contractor compliant to rules regulations besides devising a comprehensive plan to remove encroachments from banks of River Swat.
