Meeting reviewed DRCs overall progress in Peshawar

An important meeting held here on Monday with SSP Operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi in the chair, reviewed the Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) function and its impact on the society in controlling crime ratio.
The meeting which was held at Malik Saad Police Lines attended by the members of DRC and SP Cant Muhammad Azhar, SDPO Gulbahar Shakeel Khan. The forum held a detail discussion over the DRC, a Jirga system to resolve dispute among the citizen, and its positive impacts on crimes control in the society.
SSP Operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi said during the meeting that police department will work together for the convenience of the people and it using all resources for the success of DRC system.
Besides, people belonging to the minority community, women and transgender community have also been made part of the DRCs so that the problems of citizens belonging to all sections can be solved on a priority basi.
Kashif Aftab Abbasi while addressing the participants said that keeping in mind the Pakhtun traditions in the region, the DRCs Jirga system was established to resolve the issue at their doorsteps on a priority basis.
As possible, he said that the services of the DRC members are admirable who are providing justice-based services to the citizens for free, which is unprecedented, he added.
SSP Operations Peshawar added that thousands of citizens contacting the DRC forum to resolve their issues which is a proof of its success, adding that women and transgenders are also adequately represented in the DRC so that the problems of all sections of the society can be addressed.
On this occasion, various issues including the performance of DRCs, the challenges it faced and a detailed discussion on the peaceful resolution of conflicts were also discussed.
The forum was informed that a total of 9734 applications have been received in Peshawar district so far, out of which 9328 applications were given response and issues had resolved with mutual consent of the parties amicably.
