SSP Operations says no laxity in security tobe toleratedPESHAWAR: An important meeting held here onThursday with SSP Operations Haroon Rashid Khan in the chair, reviewed securitymeasures taken for the Muharram processions and Imambargahs in the provincialcapital.
The meeting which was held in the policecontrol room Police Station Khan Razaq Shaheed was attended by SSPInvestigation Nisar Ahmed, Divisional SPs, SDPOs, Traffic Officers and otherpolice officers. The forum discussed the overall securitysteps on the occasion of mourning processions on the 8th and 9th of Muharram, includingthe day of Ashura.
In the meeting, all the routes and timings ofthe mourning processions on the occasion of the 8th, 9th of Muharram and AshuraDay were re-evaluated.
As per details, SSP Operation said thatpolice force have been put on high alert in Peshawar and under a strategyfoolproof security measures have been taken in all sensitive places of theprovincial capital.
Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) and sniffer dogshave also been on high alert for the assistance of police deployed across thecity, he added and said that adequate arrangements have been made with the helpof heavy deployments of police for the protection of all Imambargahs in theinner city including the internal and external routes of the district.
SSP Operations said that coordination shouldbe established with various institutions.
Haroon Rashid Khan furthered that 1,500police officers and officials have been deployed across the district and theforce have been equipped with CCTV cameras, surveillance camera mobiles anddrone cameras of places of worship and sensitive places are also being used,along with this, snipers have also been deployed on high-rise buildings.
SSP Operation has issued instructions toquarter concerned on duty to ensure theuse of jacket helmets in view of the current situation, adding that SPs to monitorall security arrangements and routes.
He said that any kind of negligence inMuharram duty will not be tolerated.
