Meeting reviews revenue, performance of excise dept

A review meeting regarding revenue recovery, departmental performance and ongoing administrative and public facilitation reforms was held under the chairmanship of Secretary, Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,Khalid Ilyas, here at Peshawar.
During the meeting, performance of the department for the first seven months (July to January) of the current financial year 2025–26 and the achievement of assigned revenue targets were assessed.
The meeting was attended by Director General Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Abdul Haleem Khan, Director Administration Shehryar Qamar Khattak, concerned Directors and District Excise and Taxation Officers from across the province.
During the meeting, the Secretary was given a detailed briefing on the performance of all district offices with regard to assigned targets and revenue recovery.
He was also apprised of the progress made on various ongoing administrative reforms and public facilitation initiatives being implemented in the department.
The Secretary directed the concerned officers to further accelerate efforts to ensure the achievement of assigned targets and to improve overall revenue recovery.
He further directed that a special campaign be launched, in accordance with the law, against major tax defaulters across the province. He also instructed that actions against token tax defaulters and unregistered vehicles and motorcycles be intensified.
The Secretary emphasized that Regional Directors and District Excise and Taxation Officers must take special measures to further improve departmental performance and revenue collection, while ensuring maximum facilitation to the public and leaving no room for complaints.
He made it clear that violations of discipline and negligence in duty will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and strict legal action will be taken against those found in negligence or dereliction of duty.
