The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Public Health Engineering, Fazal Shakoor Khan, formally inaugurated the spring tree Plantation campaign by planting a sapling at the Forest Department Sub-Division Charsadda. The inaugural ceremony was attended by officials of the Forest Department, locals and a large number of citizens.
At the outset of the ceremony, the Provincial Minister planted a sapling to mark the official launch of the campaign. On this occasion, the Forest Department also distributed free saplings among citizens and provided guidance regarding proper plantation techniques, care, and maintenance to ensure maximum public participation in this national cause.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Fazal Shakoor Khan said that tree plantation is not merely a seasonal activity but a guarantee of a safe, healthy, and green future for coming generations. He emphasized that trees play a vital role in combating environmental pollution, mitigating the adverse effects of climate change, improving groundwater levels, and controlling air pollution.
He further said that in order to translate the vision of a green and prosperous Pakistan envisioned by the founding Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, into reality, every citizen must play an active role.
He added that the Public Health Engineering Department, in collaboration with other relevant institutions, would take coordinated and effective measures to ensure the success of the plantation drive across the province.
The Provincial Minister urged youth, students, civil society, and government institutions to actively participate in the campaign by planting more trees and ensuring their proper care.
He stressed that planting a sapling alone is not sufficient, its protection and regular watering are equally important responsibilities.
He appealed to the public to plant maximum trees at their homes, educational institutions, offices, and vacant spaces to help make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa environmentally clean, green, and beautiful.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, participants reaffirmed their commitment to actively contribute towards the success of the spring tree plantation campaign and to play their part in making the province greener and more sustainable.
