Minister inaugurates five new enterprises in D.I.Khan Economic Zone

The provincial caretaker minister for industry, trade, technical education and tribal affairs Syed Amir Abdullah on Tuesday launched five new enterprises in Dera Ismail Khan Economic Zone.
According to a statement, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) Javed Khattak along with its senior management team were also present on the occasion.
The newly inaugurated enterprises in the zone are associated with the food and beverages, LPG and chemical sector and are considered an important milestone for the zone as it will expand the overall horizon of investment and will boost employment opportunities in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, officials of the KPEZDMC said that the enterprises will meet the growing demand of energy in the southern districts of the province.
It is pertinent to mention here that currently the volume of investment in the zone has jumped to Rs 660.5 million, a positive development in terms of economic growth and prosperity not only for the district but for the whole province.
The provincial minister Syed Amir Abdullah while speaking on the occasion said that substantial investment in the DIKhan economic zone will not only strengthen the local economy but will also play an important role in the industrial development of Pakistan.
“The industries established in the zone are expected to create approximately 500 direct jobs and an additional 1,050 indirect employment opportunities, which will provide a much-needed boost to the local workforce, and further contribute to the economic well-being of DI Khan and southern district of KP.
With unique geographic importance, the DI Khan economic zone is established on 189 acres and considered a unique economic center for the province. As per details, the overall investment has reached to about Rs 1.7 billion while the total number of employment in this zone is 894.
Currently, there are 12 industries are functioning in the zone and around 26 other are under construction stage and will be completed in near future.
The zone will prove to be an important milestone in the development of not only Dera Ismail Khan but also the southern districts.
This economic zone is located at the second most important intersection of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route, particularly the Western Corridor.
Javed Khattak, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), KPEZDMC said that all available resources are being utilized by the provincial government to enhance the overall volume of investment in all economic zones of the province.
