A high-level meeting chaired by KP Health Minister Khaliq-ur-Rehman reviewed proposals aimed at strengthening the province’s health system, including the establishment of a Category B hospital in Nowshera district.
The meeting, held in Peshawar, was attended by Health Department Secretary Shahidullah Khan and other senior officials, where key matters related to improving healthcare delivery across the province were discussed, said a handout.
During the session, the District Health Officer Nowshera proposed the establishment of a Category B hospital in the Provincial Housing Authority (PHA) Housing Scheme at Jalozai in Nowshera district. Officials said the proposed facility would cater to nearly one million people from Nowshera and adjoining areas of Peshawar district.
Authorities noted that, in line with the provincial government’s long-term health vision, the hospital is expected to serve as a major healthcare hub for the PHA Housing Scheme and the proposed Peshawar Valley region.
The facility is planned to offer 24-hour emergency services, specialist consultations, and modern diagnostic facilities across more than 13 departments, providing comprehensive treatment under one roof. Officials said the project would not only improve access to healthcare but also generate employment opportunities and stimulate local economic activity.
The health minister directed relevant departments to take necessary steps for the early implementation of the proposal, reiterating the government’s commitment to ensuring timely and quality healthcare services for the public.
Local residents reportedly welcomed the initiative, appreciating the proposed expansion of health infrastructure in the area. The meeting concluded with prayers for the swift and successful execution of the project.
