The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Public Health Engineering, Fazal Shakoor Khan, has taken strict notice of the matter in which an Operator-cum-Chowkidar was temporarily assigned the duties of a Sub Engineer in Public Health Engineering (PHE) Division Tank.
The Provincial Minister expressed serious concern over this unusual and rules-violating decision and has sought an immediate and detailed report from the concerned authorities.
The Provincial Minister has also called for an explanation from the Chief Engineer, Central Peshawar Region. The concerned officer has been directed to clarify his position with solid and cogent reasons within three days. In case a satisfactory explanation is not submitted within the stipulated time, disciplinary action will be initiated under the prevailing rules and regulations, as per the explanation notice.
The Provincial Minister emphasized that appointments and postings within the department will strictly be made in accordance with rules, merit, and principles of transparency. He categorically said that misuse of authority at any level will not be tolerated.
Fazal Shakoor Khan further said that assigning technical duties to non-technical and unrelated staff under the guise of stopgap arrangements is harmful to public interest and adversely affects the performance of the department.
The Provincial Minister has directed that the matter be investigated immediately, and if any violation of rules is proven, strict departmental action will be taken against the responsible officers.
